Do you need to pay for anti-virus software

A recent study conducted by freebielist.com sugegsts that people who purchase new computers are being sold anti-virus software unnecessarily.

In the study they found that many electrical and computer tores fail to notify customers on the numerous free alternatives, and it is not surprising since about 1 in 3 elect to purchase anti-virus software at the ‘point of sale’. Only 30% of respondents recognised free alternatives were available. A further 15% of these believed free software was inferior.

Sales staff regularly recommend anti-virus packages, such as McAfee, Norton or Kaspersky. However, a similar level of protection can be achieved without spending hard-earned cash.
